What does a ghostwriter do?

I love getting invited to speak at school assemblies and libraries as a ghostwriter, becuse the kids get really excited that somebody who writes about ghosts is coming in to visit them.
Sadly, writing about ghosts isn’t what I do, but that might change if somebody approaches me about it!
A ghostwriter is a professional writer enlisted by a client who already holds an idea for a book. In forming a working relationship with that client, the ghostwriter ensures that their ideas and storyline/timeline translate professionally and creatively onto the pages of a well-structured and engaging manuscript. The idea can be about absolutely anything or anyone, but it’s the client’s responsibility to carry out their own research and compliance for both pre and post production, and to ensure that they know how their idea will generally flow.
In a ghostwriting role, I have worked with clients to help them bring books to life via such diverse projects as ‘behind the scenes’ exposés, journeys of record-breaking triumphs over adversity, autobiographical memoirs, business manuals, and even principles and practices of starting up a global movement!
Generally, a client will pay a ghostwriter for their writing services, and will spend a considerable amount of time with them in order to create the final product together. Upon publication, the book or manuscript is then fully credited to the client, and they get all of the profits/royalties. I have been fortunate that my clients enjoy working with me very much, and so like to give me an acknowledgment, special mention or ‘shout out’ in their final published works and social media marketing.
Copywriting, however, is much more straightforward, as the publications produced via this process are purely for the purpose of advertising, marketing, selling, branding or presenting. As a copywriter, I ensure that whatever I produce for my clients is engaging, suited to their branding and vision, and most of all, professionally pristine and persuasive.
Whatever the service, I offer all clients a free consultation and bespoke proposal, and allocate a project-based price that reflects unrivalled value for money. There’s nothing scary about the way I work.
