New Year’s make-believe

2019, New Year, book, ghostwriting, business, book, gym, diet, detox, language, swearing, New Year's, New Year's Resolutions, Resolutions, 2018, training, agoodwriteup, writing, copywriting, commitment, consumer rights, customer service, trolls

Alternative title: Let’s see if I actually go through with any of my New Year’s resolutions.

I’m so bad at focusing on New Year’s resolutions that I haven’t even bothered making any for the last god knows how many years. My hatred for the motivational shite of ‘New Year, New Me’, combined with my complete lack of willpower, means I’m very unlikely to even remember my resolutions, never mind keep any of them. For the sake of being a good sport, however, I’ll play along in 2019.

Note that none of my resolutions include the words ‘gym’, ‘diet’ or ‘detox’. I don’t think any of those words have ever really featured in my vocabulary.

Firstly, I’m going to make the most of my swearing in all written promotion for agoodwriteup. This is to make up for the fact that I have to rein it in at home now that the small child is starting to grasp spoken language.

I’m going to read more books that are simply a good story or a good laugh, or because I fancy a bit of escapism. In other words, I’m reading nothing claiming it’ll make me a better person. Why the hell would I want that?

I will definitely be watching more films in 2019. I used to be a complete film geek prior to my business and my baby taking over, and before the days of having to make a choice between buying a cinema-ticket-popcorn-combo-snack-deal and paying the monthly mortgage.

I want to make a point of entering more competitions. Only the free ones, though. If I had money to piss up the wall on stuff where “calls cost £1.50 plus your standard network text messaging rate”, then I wouldn’t need to win competitions in the first place, would I?

And finally, I’m committed to sticking with November 2018’s decision to strike ghostwriting from my list of offerings here at agoodwriteup. Instead, I might just start writing my own book. About what, I have no idea (and honestly welcome any suggestions), but you can count on the fact that the title will have a pun in it.

Some things never change.

All the very best, lovely people. See you in 2019, providing you’re not at the gym.
