Blogs: Are you getting your ‘one a week’?

I don’t drink 8 glasses of water per day.

Neither do I eat my 5 fruits and veg every day. In fact, I doubt I consume that figure in a standard week, if I’m honest.

Just as I don’t meet these advisory targets with my diet, when it comes to my business, I don’t blog anywhere near as often as I should, either.

This may be a small relief to my clients and any visitors to my website, who may likely feel that one rant per month about irresponsible use of apostrophes is more than sufficient, but if I was playing the SEO game properly, I should be turning out a blog at least once every week.

So, why blog so often? SEO experts would suggest that the way to get your website and content ranking highest on the web is to keep it original and constantly changing.  There will, of course, be some kind of techy science behind this, but it makes sense in layman’s terms also, because in keeping your content up to date and fresh, you’re showing your clients that your business, service or product is one that is constantly evolving and improving.

I’m very fortunate that many clients look me up from having read my guest blogs or articles, or that they come to me from the recommendations of colleagues, friends and clients who have worked with me previously.  I have a strong and loyal client base that is evolving in all the ways I want and need it to, but if I wanted to venture down the Bond villain-esque route of serious money-making and world domination (purely from a branding perspective, of course), then I’d need to start blogging quickly and often.

A lot of people in this position of wanting to start, develop or grow a venture can often be at a loss when it comes to blogging.  They get frustrated with the ‘what’ to write.  They are troubled by the ‘how’ to write it.  Most significantly though, they nearly all lack the time and/or energy to, you know, actually write it.

This is where I come in.  A cost-free consultation with my client allows me to gain an understanding of them as a person, and from there, we can put together some key ideas for potential blog pieces that will really support and promote the individual brand, vision and ethos.  This consultation period is just as enjoyable for me as the actual writing of the resulting blog.

If you want to get blogging, but would much rather somebody else professionally provided the energy, ideas and words, get in touch!
